Blanks have changed but they are better than ever with X45 and HVF technology, the old ones were plain high grade carbon, and great, but now you have bonus technology. Rod feels pokier than the old models but still plenty of action going on.I would have no issues using it for mixed species worm fishing if a big carp came along - its a very versatile rod (I don't go in for having masses of different rods) Impressive value for money from Fishing Tackle & Bait
